Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) new greenfield Data Centre and Enterprise Computing & Cybersecurity Training Institute in Jatni, near Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Odisha Governor, Shri Brajmohan Ram, Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, Union Minister Finance Shrimati Nirmala Sitharaman and RBI Governor Shri Sanjay Malhotra graced the occasion. Built at an estimated cost of ₹169 crore, this high-tech facility serves as the RBI’s second data center in the country after Navi Mumbai, significantly expanding the central bank’s digital infrastructure capacity. Designed to provide secure, resilient, scalable, and future-ready computing capabilities, the new facility hosts mission-critical payment and settlement systems that power India’s rapidly growing digital economy. It has achieved the prestigious Uptime Institute’s Tier IV certification—the highest benchmark for data center infrastructure resilience—ensuring maximum uptime and operational security for the nation’s core financial services.

In tandem with data hosting capabilities, the complex houses a dedicated Cybersecurity Training Institute aimed at bolstering capability development across the Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) sector. The institute will focus on research and training in cutting-edge technology domains, including artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and enterprise computing security. The inauguration marks a major milestone for both Odisha’s tech landscape and India’s national cyber resilience. By creating a robust digital defense system for financial data and building specialized technical expertise, the RBI facility strengthens the reliability, efficiency, and safety of digital financial interactions nationwide.
